You have 2 ways:
- Transfer money in the Varo Bank app.
- Transfer money from the external bank’s online banking site.
These transfers, called ACH transfers, can take 1–4 business days for security reasons and require verification that you own the external account before you can start. If you want to move money quickly, you’re better off making an instant transfer from digital wallets like Cash App, Venmo, or PayPal. They might charge a fee, so check before you start.
- Transfer money in the Varo app.
First, link the external account to your Varo Bank Account to verify it’s yours.
Once the external account is linked, open the Varo app and tap Move Money > Transfer Money > Transfer Money, then select the account you want to transfer from. You can see the limit for the transfer under Amount. The money will be transferred to your Varo account in 3–4 business days.
- Transfer money from the external bank’s online banking site
While each bank is different, here’s what to look for:
- Log in to the external bank’s site
- Select external transfers
- Add your Varo Bank Account as a new account
Provide your Varo Bank Account number and routing number, which you can find in the Varo app by selecting your checking or savings account from the home page, then tap the Account Details tab.
If the bank asks the account type, choose Checking.
From there, the bank will typically send two small trial deposits to your Varo Bank Account, which you should see in 1–2 business days. When you receive the deposits, match the amounts with what you see in the external bank account. If everything looks good, you’re set to transfer money to your Varo Bank Account.
While most banks don’t charge a fee for this type of transfer, some do, so check with the external bank first. Money is typically transferred in 1–2 business days and limits will vary by bank.
