Yep, you can use your Varo Bank Visa® Debit Card virtually anywhere Visa is accepted. There are a few exceptions, so please see the list below before your trip.
Remember, traveling with your Varo Bank debit card means:
- No foreign transaction fees. Many banks charge a foreign transaction fee of 3% for each transaction, but Varo Bank charges none.
- No need for cash exchange. Getting foreign currency at airport kiosks could mean poor exchange rates and high fees. With your Varo Bank debit card, you can withdraw cash at any ATM that accepts Visa* and even find fee-free Allpoint® ATMs in Canada, the United Kingdom, Puerto Rico, Australia, and Mexico. To find your closest Allpoint ATM, open the Varo Bank app and tap Move Money > Find ATM, or use the Allpoint ATM Locator.
- No exchange rate markups. Varo Bank doesn’t mark up the exchange rate like other banks may. You can see how far your dollar goes using the Visa Currency Exchange Calculator.
*There is no fee to withdraw money from any Allpoint® ATM. There is a $2.50 ATM cash withdrawal fee assessed by Varo Bank for all non-Allpoint® ATM transactions (out of network transactions). The ATM operator may charge an additional fee.
Do I need to set an alert when I travel?
No, your Varo Bank debit card will work automatically when you visit any country or ATM that accepts Visa, except for the countries listed below.
How can I contact Varo Bank if I’m traveling internationally?
You can reach us at (415) 855-2616.
What if I’m deployed?
If you’re deployed to a military base, your Varo Bank debit card will work as long as it is used on the base. All transactions from U.S. military bases will be processed as U.S.-based transactions. However, if you leave the base, the card will be declined in a blocked country.
