Yep, you can use your Varo Visa Debit Card virtually anywhere Visa is accepted. There are a few exceptions, so please see the list below before your trip.
Remember, traveling with your Varo debit card means:
- No foreign transaction fees. Many banks charge a foreign transaction fee of 3% for each transaction, but Varo charges none.
- No need for cash exchange. Getting foreign currency at airport kiosks could mean poor exchange rates and high fees. With your Varo debit card, you can withdraw cash at any ATM that accepts Visa and even find fee-free Allpoint® ATMs in Canada, the United Kingdom, Puerto Rico, Australia, and Mexico. To find your closest Allpoint ATM, open the Varo app and tap Move Money > Find an ATM, or use the Allpoint ATM Locator.
- No exchange rate markups. Varo doesn’t mark up the exchange rate like other banks may. You can see how far your dollar goes using the Visa Currency Exchange Calculator.
Do I need to set an alert when I travel?
No, your Varo debit card will work automatically when you visit any country or ATM that accepts Visa except for the countries listed below where Varo debit cards won’t work.
How can I contact Varo if I’m traveling internationally?
You can reach us at (415) 855-2616.
What if I’m deployed?
If you’re deployed to a military base, your Varo debit card will work as long as it is used on the base. All transactions from U.S. military bases will be processed as U.S.-based transactions. However, if you leave the base, the card will be declined in a blocked country.
