Debit Card Funding

You can fund your Varo account quickly and securely using any U.S. based Mastercard or Visa debit card. Link an external debit card during onboarding, or anytime in the app, to move money into your Varo account.

Get Started

Follow the onboarding prompt to fund instantly from debit card, or tap Move Money from the home screen at any time, then complete the following:

  1. Use a previously linked debit card or enter your debit card details.
    Note: To link a new debit card, remove the existing card through Linked cards and accounts.
  2. Enter the amount you want to transfer.(1)
  3. Enjoy instant access to your funds as soon as the transfer is successful.(2)

Troubleshooting

While linking a card and transferring funds, you may occasionally run into issues. Double-check the following information for any card registration or transfer errors:

If you receive an error while trying to link your external card
  • Ensure you aren’t accidentally trying to link a Varo card
  • Confirm your external card is active and isn’t locked, frozen, or blocked by the issuing bank
  • The name on your external card must exactly match the name on your Varo Bank account
  • The address for the external card must exactly match the address on your Varo Bank account
  • Check that the card number, expiration date, CVV, and billing ZIP code were entered correctly
If your card is linked successfully, but the transfer fails
  • Check that the card hasn’t expired since it was initially linked in your app
  • If your external financial institution has declined the payment, you might need to reach out to them for further details
  • Ensure your external account has enough money to cover the full transfer. Partial authorizations are allowed if your linked debit card doesn’t have enough money to cover the full transfer amount.

 

(1)Transfers must be a minimum of $20. While daily limits are reset at 2:00 AM ET. Limits and availability may be adjusted from time to time and will be disclosed to you when you access the Debit Card Funding feature using the Mobile App.
